If it is real gold, it will have the same effectiveness. Gold is usually alloyed with Copper, or Silver, or something else to keep the color, and all of those alloys are acceptable in orgonite AFAIK.
Furthermore, many gold flake sellers are actually selling copper + zinc alloyed to look gold. This works in orgonite but is not worth anymore cost than the base price of copper + zinc. |

If you bought it at Hobby Lobby it's most definitely not real gold but might be useful as a metal addition unless it is painted plastic. The "gold" you get in those little glass bottles is not real gold either and will often turn green when cast in orgonite.
There is a kind of gold flakes at Michael's that will work really well in orgonite but only about the same as a copper component and should only be used for art pieces.
Real gold is hard to find and very expensive and the true properties of gold can unfortunately not be duplicated by cheap imitations.

Will 2k-3k gold work just as well as 24k gold in orgonite? I also second on the question for Sensei on the source of his gold flakes.
Thanks,

I like to grind gold leaf in a mortar and pestle with some quartz sand until the gold leaf disappears which is to say that the gold particles become small enough they can't be seen with the naked eye. It is a bit of work but if the quartz sand is sharp it will pulverize the gold leaf nicely plus I feel I am working in intent into the gold. As I grind it I am visializing what I want the orgonite to do and be.
This sort of intent grinding is something I do with lots of different minerals if I am using them in powder form for orgonite recipes. Grinding different minerals together for awhile rather than just loosely mixing them brings your intent to bear on them more intimately. _________________ My web site "Orgonia"

My gold contact would not work for other folks, it is complicated.
Search google for 24 K gold leaf for gilding and art uses. Sometime it is available on ebay.
Get the LOOSE pieces enclosed on both sides with paper.
Should cost about $1 for a 3X3 inch square.
Then put them in the resin and break up with a stir stick. Make the pieces small and a little gold will go a long way.

Yes. LA Gold Leaf is good.
By the way I may have happened onto a test fro pure gold leaf. I had some that was allegedly 24K from an Ebay seller. Recently I have started sprinkling gold flake on the bottom pf plaques so that there is s starry sky of gold on the bottom surface of the mold piece. I later tarnish these copper powder/resin cast pieces with liver of sulfur to darken them but 24K is not supposed react to the sulfur. Well the "gold leaf" does react. It turns a copper color which may indicate it is a copper and zinc alloy. I have also noticed that not all of the flakes react, so it may be that unscrupulous sellers mix real 24K or even 23K with alloyed flakes.
That way they can say their product is high purity when in fact it is only partially so. _________________ My web site "Orgonia"
