I feel time has come upon me that I should build one;
I got really atypical crystal; I saw tutorials on how to wrap it; I just got one quick one
would this be sufficient wire ? I got a feeling it could work out :
thanks

You can add about 5 inches of coiled wire to that.
Glue your starting point (or first loop) in the wrap to the crystal, to help with the uneven surface that you are wrapping. That will let you wrap more of the crystal on the bottom.
Great looking crystal. It should make a wonderful tool.

Before casting...
You may want to warm the crystal, so that it will not crack the resin from the inside, as it heats and cures.
Warm to the touch is good, depending on the volume of the pour.
What are you going to use for a mold ?

Thanks for the hint; I surely will keep it warm
well I am still wondering about the casting form;
I have been thinking about PET bottle- cut off so it would cover almost to the top
best idea I could think of at the moment, or I have this glass vase that would just do the trick.
any suggestion appreciated

Good question that many miss until it is too late.
Use shrink tube or some kind of protection/reinforcement at the place where the wire enters the resin surface.
This is a weak/wear point and your wire is thin and fragile.
Doing this well now will insure years of trouble free use, rather than the wires breaking at the resin, where they cannot be repaired.

thanks for liking it
yeah there could be few improvements on technique and the only down coming was I had to hammer the mold down
LOL
this resin doesn't shrink much; luckily I spent it all already, so no more mold breaking
it's giving a nice vibezzzzzzzzz _________________ All is well in Gods universe. |
