Well while everyone and their mothers were outside last night firing off fireworks, (illegal in L.A. city limits).
I sat in my room waiting for it to stop so I could go to bed to be up at 5 A.M. for work.
One of the participants in my cul-de-sac was a neighbors friend who happened to be a police officer.
To quote Stan Ridgeway verse : Everybody does what nobody will allow.
Well I got up for work late, after 2-3 hours sleep to find the air so badly smogged from the night before, that it harkened to the air 5 years ago before people started gifting in California.
It was so bad that it was at ground level.
The entire trip of 53 miles was basicly the same.
All I could think the entire trip was "Man, what a waste".
My second background thought was "and they have no idea of what they were celebrating".
For a month before yesterday those same people would run out of their houses at 11-12 oclock at night and fire a few off.
My third thought the whole trip was "I really got to get out of this state", as I gazed at the endless firework enduced smog ocean of stupidity.
I haven't participated in a 4th of july anything for years, and after what I witnessed this morning I never will again.

Hi Mark,
Just move out a little further like I did. LOL. Only problem I got to commute to work. But it is worth it.
Every 4th when I lived in Reseda I never got to sleep it was so loud.
And the smog what hell it was to breath.
Well the whole thing is a pain in the A@$.
Sorry to rant here but these people do not know what they celebrate at all. They are just asleep.

First of all, thank you to everyone who has gifted L.A. My father lives there, and every time I ask him about the air, he says it's clean. I finally told him about LAARP. I was kind of surprised that he didn't think I'm crazy. Last weekend, I mailed him a zapper.
Secondly, I have to get up at 5 am, too, and I have 55 miles to drive to work. I put the soft ear plugs in my ears that we use at work, and I have black out curtains on my windows. I also sleep with a zapper on my solar plexus. Sleeping is not a problem for me anymore, even when fireworks and dogs do their thing.
